Bert Woudstra (* 1932) was born in Enschede, Holland. Like Curt Bloch, to survive he had to hide as a Jew from the Nazis. He went into hiding, living clandestinely at thirteen different addresses in the Dutch provinces of Overijssel and Gelderland. He was assisted by the support network of resistance fighters Dr. André Noordenbos and Pastor Leendert Overduin, whose commitment also saved Bloch’s life. Woudstra, who was honored for his social contributions by the Dutch Queen with the Order of Orange-Nassau and by the German President with the Federal Cross of Merit, has served for many years as a witness at the Westerbork Memorial Center for Dutch and German groups.
