To the “Even-Handed”

You are so terribly objective,
When hearing you speaking like that,
Yes, hearing you, it moves me deeply
Almost to the point of vomiting.

You bend left and bend right,
Down and up,
In the good, you find something bad,
In the bad, something to praise.

I see, the war is still extended,
And I think it is a sin,
You still make an effort! Perhaps the reasons
For this will be discovered.

Whether killing there to prevent betrayal
And seek revenge,
Or killing here those
Who speak for freedom.

It remains all the same to you,
You do not see the depths,
It keeps you free from excitement:
You are the even-handed!

And there, you don’t see what is great,
And here, you don’t see what is nasty,
And you always seek, just to find
A stain on purity.

You never see the big picture,
You only see the little things,
If you find something, you start wildly
To dwell on it.

Yes, objectively from late to early
You are on your way,
And you make the greatest effort,
Just not to commit yourself.

A rubber-sponge mentality
Is your worldview,
Even if the world goes to ruin,
It won’t bother your digestion.

You always weigh and consider,
And only see your chances,
And you like to keep yourself constantly
Politically in balance.

Will it be right, will it be left, will it be in the middle?
They strive and they hope:
If one just puts water in the wine,
The path will remain open for us.

You wish to be fair
To all and to remain so,
Because if we are, we stay out of trouble,
We can always float on top!

Time has a wide abyss,
It swallows in its depths
What is dilapidated and unhealthy,
And also the even-handed.
