The “Day D” (Pop Song)

The recent steps taken by the British government, which create the impression that the invasion is imminent, have caused tremendous nervousness among the English people. The constantly repeated mentions by the English press regarding the approaching “Day D” – that is what the day of the invasion is referred to– is bound to have had its psychological effect on the English. Swedish correspondents, however, indicate that the English propaganda demands more from the nerves of the population than they apparently can bear. The symptoms of nervousness are so widespread that even a newspaper like the “Daily Express,” which recently published the most sensational news about the impending invasion, now publishes medical advice on how to calm shocked nerves. – 4-5-44.

1) Oh, what a giant setback it is,
Because the British are nervous wrecks,
All Britons, full of agitation,
Await the day of the invasion.

Yes, they can hardly bear it,
And it’s no damn fun,
The newspaper make plain,
All of London is nervous.

Chorus:
Lord and Lady
Impatiently wait for the “Day D”
Every Brit is neurotic,
Because the “Day D” just doesn’t come.
Yes, it will undoubtedly be a tragedy
For the Britons the “Day D”

2) All Nazis really like this,
Berlin is in a state of euphoria,
They forget what they have suffered
Because of the huge British difficulties.

For Goebbels’ new slogan
Proclaims: The Brits are nervous,
And there remains only one remedy
And that is and remains the “Day D”

Chorus.
Lord and Lady etc.

3) Eisenhower still dares not do this,
Apparently, it was shelved, again,
And that already happened twenty times now,
And he still doesn’t dare to attack.

Even at the Atlantic Wall,
Do people already know this? Brits are crazy,
Yes, overwrought from waiting
Now are all British men.

Chorus
Lord and Lady etc.

4) But one day the time will come,
Then they will strike the Krauts everywhere,
Hitler is terrified, because he knows,
All Nazis tremble for “Day D”

“Day D” for them will mean death,
Nazi Germany will meet its end,
Hitler won’t keep it together for long,
And so we are full of confidence.

Final chorus:
“Day D”, “Day D”
Lots of planes and tanks will come ,
And for Kraut and NSB
“Day D” will certainly be very bad.
For them, it will surely be a tragedy,
So come quickly,
“Day D”
