Jens Harzer (* 1972) is a German actor. While still studying at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, he joined the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele and later the Munich Residenztheater. Guest performances have taken Harzer to the Burgtheater in Vienna and the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, among others, and he has also appeared regularly at the Salzburg Festival. Harzer has been a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg since 2009; since then, he has regularly read from the interrogation transcripts of Nazi resistance fighter Georg Elser once a year. In addition to his theater work, Jens Harzer also appears in cinema and television productions. The actor has received several awards for his artistic work, including two Actor of the Year awards from the magazine “Theater heute”, the Hessian Television Prize and the Kurt Meisel Prize. Jens Harzer also holds the Iffland Ring, which was awarded to him for life by the actor Bruno Ganz.
