Marion Y. Kamp-Berets (* 1937) is the daughter of Otto and Hilde Berets, who fled from Krefeld to the Netherlands in 1935. When the deportations of the Jewish population began there in the summer of 1942, her parents hid from the Nazis with Marion and her brother. They found refuge in a small house on a farm. The Berets lived there in relative safety for almost a year – until the Nazis found out about the hiding place. The family managed to save themselves from the approaching manhunters in a ditch; they watched as their hiding place was set on fire. Until the liberation of the Netherlands, the four of them found shelter at various addresses and were able to survive. After the war, the Berets family moved to the United States. Marion Kamp studied interior design in New York and married Rolf Kamp in 1957. She founded her own design company and looked after clients all over the world.
