The Duce is Loose

Once again, the monster is free,
People are disappointed,
With great pleasure, the Hitler press
Did announce this new fact.

Benito is on the loose,
Resuming his activities,
The German people find renewed courage
From this act of liberation.

Unfortunately, this time it went wrong,
Punishment was delayed,
Reprieve from execution
Was achieved, let it be lamented.

Once again, the same mistake was made,
Repeated over and over:
Too soft, too indulgent, too trusting,
For which one now pays.

I don‘t believe it makes much difference
And that one is mistaken,
Whether he still grumbles a little,
The verdict has already been decided.

They know Italy doesn‘t want to know anything from him,
Wants to be unfascist,
Detests the Sieg-Heil song,
Detests the German line.

They also know that Benito now
No longer remains the „Duce“,
He dances to Hitler‘s tune
Not too enthusiastically.

He is like Mussert and Laval,
Just potter’s clay in Hitler‘s hand,
This “freedom” is his deepest downfall,
He became a German henchman.

He is a puppet on Hitler’s string,
Doing what Adolf says,
Benito is a German soldier
And a slave of the Krauts.

That’s what everyone sees now,
And what everyone knows.
Do you understand why the Duce,
Has long been called “the Deutsche“ [the German]?
