The Führer at Mrs Sybil‘s

(see cover montage)

Secretly, Hitler
consulted Miss Sybil recently,
For her to predict from her deck of cards
His future for him.

His personal fortuneteller Hanussen
Unfortunately, he can no longer consult,
For he died – and that was nasty–
In ‘33, mysteriously.

This Jew was dear to him,
But his death was suspicious,
And it has been revealed,
That Graf Helldorf had him murdered,

Secretly and quietly,
Adolf therefore sought out the wise
fortuneteller,
And he took thereby

The risk of losing prestige
Among the people and the army,
Who until then worshipped him
As the greatest of prophets,

Even if, let’s say it openly,
Most of what he prophesied
Did not come true,
They still didn’t wise up.

But Adolf, this fellow,
Seems to not think of his gift of foresight
Too highly himself,
So he went to the old fortuneteller

So that she could take away from his soul
Everything that torments him,
And could precisely predict to him,
What the Nazi future would be.

But the old lady says with hesitation,
Afraid of prison, afraid of camps,
That she is completely unable,
Adolf said: That’s a shame,

Did I climb the five stairs for that?
Do you think I let myself be fooled?
But the old lady still hesitates:
Do you think I want to go to jail?

Adolf assured her
That she will not be punished, she chuckles,
And she shuffled her cards,
And the Führer had to wait.

Miss Sybil mumbles formulas
So the future may reveal itself,
And then she says: Führer, take a card!
Jack of Spades? That’s bad.

Yes, I speak freely.
This is the gravedigger,
It means death, destruction,
Adolf, you will die very soon.

Very shortly,
You will suffer many a misfortune,
And I smell the odor of decay,
Adolf, you will sink into the grave.

Yes, and this is the nine of hearts,
You have almost no friends,
But all the more enemies,
And the whole world community

Will be very happy and content
On the day you take your leave,
There will be joyful celebrations
North, south, east, and west.

Until you’ll meet your fate,
It will only take a short while,
Your hour is nigh,
I cannot say exactly

On what day and what hour,
But hear from my mouth
This fateful word:
Soon you must depart.

Naturally, the Führer was
Very upset by her prophecy,
And he slunk home,
Would have liked to escape his fate,

But he feels, that Sybil’s
Prediction will soon come true,
For the die is cast
And we all wait for it.
