Andreas Dresen (* 1963) is a German film director. One of his student films while studying directing at the Konrad Wolf Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg won the Prix Europa. Dresen has been working as a freelance author and director since 1992. In addition to feature films and documentaries, he has also directed plays and operas at various German-speaking theaters. Andreas Dresen has received numerous national and international awards for his artistic work, including the German Film Critics’ Award, the German Film Award, the German Television Award, the Silver Bear at the Berlinale, the Prix Certain Regard in Cannes and the Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. In 2020, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class.
