Jaap Wertheim (*1939) was forced to go into hiding as a child during World War II in order to survive. He was taken in by the Van Blaaderen family in Laren. While his mother also survived in hiding, his father was betrayed, deported, and murdered after an escape attempt. After the war, Jaap was reunited with his mother. Wertheim held several positions as a business consultant and as the managing director of various cultural and social organizations. He also worked as an assistant professor at the Rotterdam School of Management. Additionally, Wertheim was involved in the boards of Jewish institutions, such as the Jewish Cultural Quarter, the Jewish Historical Museum, and the National Holocaust Museum. For his societal contributions, Jaap Wertheim was awarded the title Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau and the Frans Banning Cocq Medal by the city of Amsterdam.
