Juliane Köhler (* 1965) is a German actress and radio drama narrator. After attending Schauspielstudio Gmelin in Munich, she completed acting training in New York. She also took ballet lessons in Munich. Köhler has been engaged at many German theatres, including the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater in Hanover, the Münchner Kammerspiele, Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, and Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf. Since 2001, she has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel. Juliane Köhler is known to a wider audience for leading roles in numerous film and television productions. She has also recorded various radio plays and audiobooks. For her artistic work, Köhler has received several awards, including the Bavarian Film Award, the Silver Bear at the Berlinale, the Bavarian Order of Merit, the Kurt Meisel Prize, and the “Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum” award of the Free State of Bavaria.
