Due to false rumors, “Dolle Dinsdag” (Mad Tuesday) was believed to mark the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allies, which led Frederik Willem van Vloten (1889–-1970), director of the Dutch Winterhulp, and many NSB members to flee.
