Dolle Dinsdag

Due to false rumors, “Dolle Dinsdag” (Mad Tuesday) was believed to mark the liberation of the Netherlands by the Allies, which led Frederik Willem van Vloten (1889–-1970), director of the Dutch Winterhulp, and many NSB members to flee. Bloch reflects on the collapse of the Winterhulp and the hope of the arrival of American troops in his poem Winter Aid in These Times.
