Schwere Luftangriffe auf Berlin

On February 3, 1945, heavy air raids on Berlin, involving around one thousand Allied bombers, result in approximately 25,000 casualties. Despite this, a Dutch occupation newspaper states that the residents of the capital are holding up “magnificently” thanks to their “dogged spirit.” Curt Bloch responds to this news about a month later with the poem “They will not keep us down”.
