Now You Didn’t Want It!

The Führer was in the depth of his soul
The true man of peace,
But the foreign countries went too far
And Germany could then

No longer remain quiet about everything
And finally marched
Into many foreign countries,
First occupied Poland

And Norway and Denmark,
Holland and Luxembourg,
The Maginot Line was strong,
But Adolf’s army broke through.

The Balkans were child’s play,
Russia was a tough nut to crack,
For there were far too many Russians,
But Adolf said, “It must be!”

The Bolshevik threatens the Reich,
Viciously with poison and dagger,
The newspapers reported to you
Many magnificent successes.

At noon, people snatched the B.Z. newspaper
Literally from each other’s hands,
The “Night Edition” late in the evening
Left you in a frenzy.

The Red Army was on the run,
Some of it was captured,
Mr. Stalin tried,
But it wasn’t meant to be.

In France, you had succeeded,
In Russia as well,
The German strength was mighty,
From Silesia to the Palatinate.

People rejoiced in the prospect of victory,
And already believed
That the end of this war was near,
And for the swastika

Now the true heyday would come
On water and on land,
You thought you were already there,
But then you realized

You’ve handed to the Führer
The laurel wreaths too early,
The Hitler madness fantasy
From ‘40, it fades away.

When Adolf, confident of victory in ‘40,
Drove through the streets of Munich,
Life was still a pleasure,
And today you are left with

The hangover and the suffering,
After delusions of grandeur,
That you are the master race
And Adolf, the German,

To be the potentate of this world,
Chosen by God
As Führer and heroic god,
Today it is already told

That this war and this fight
Were forced upon you.
Defeat is evident today,
And that is why you show remorse.

Yes, when you lose a war,
You never wanted it,
You were forced to fight it,
You were in favor of peace,

And only the evil, evil enemy
Forced you to take this step,
You had such good intentions,
But alas you had to go along.

As long as the war went according to plan,
You were very eager to fight,
And your desire for peace slept,
But today you are rudely

Awakened from your illusion,
The wave of destiny rolls
Forth, it will be night for Germany,
Now you didn’t want it.
