He fought and won the Battle of Britain when we were alone. And now the moment he has dreamed of – the moment of overwhelming attack – is almost here. When that moment strikes the resources of the whole country must be used to back up the fighting men – the ships and trains and trucks that normally distribute our coal will be used to carry their supplies.
That’s why we have to eke out the country’s existing stocks of coal – they cannot be replaced at the moment. That’s why we all must play our part by reducing our use of coal, gas, and electricity now, – by going easy with the gas or electric fire, especially in the mornings, by having meals in the kitchen, by never wasting hot water.
