Thanks for Illustrated Magazines

My stock of material grew less,
I became exhausted,
It was quite a hindrance,
The OWC was broke.

And it began to wither,
Its brilliance paled,
I searched for new lines,
And searched for new material.

I felt sorry for my customers
And for my cabaret,
Then you sent newspapers,
Hooray, I was saved.

So many illustrations
Gave me a new idea,
And provided me with inspiration,
I am content once again,

The German newspapers now
Work on my brain like fertilizer,
I quickly noticed that
My rhyming went better again.

The verses are sometimes bitter,
The verses are sometimes harsh,
But the bile flows by the liter
With such a subject.

New sounds came,
And many a new poem,
So I want to thank you:
You‘ve eased my work.

The material is abundant,
It goes much smoother,
And therefore I quickly send
This sample to you.
