Georg Stefan Troller (* 1921) was born in Vienna. In 1938, after the annexation of Austria, due to his Jewish heritage, Troller fled Austria, eventually landing in the USA. In 1943, he was drafted. He participated in both the liberation and documentation of the Dachau concentration camp on April 29, 1945, and the capture of Munich on May 1, 1945, serving as a US soldier until 1946. Due to his knowledge of German, the US Army employed him in the interrogation of prisoners of war. He later conducted over 1,500 celebrity and historical interviews during his career as a book author and television journalist. He currently resides in Paris.
